All of which have been carried out in laboratory conditions. All tests carried out are UKAS accredited. The HACCP control system is also in place.
LOW IN HEAVY METALS
The ocean in northern Ireland is much cleaner than other areas where most seaweed is harvested from.
This results in a seaweed that is lower in heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, and cadmium.
Most seaweed supplements are now sourced from China, where the water is incredibly polluted. While a brand may test for some contaminants - like heavy metals and pesticides - there are huge amounts of pollutants put into Chinese rivers and oceans that are not tested for in seaweed supplements.
The only way to even start to get a clean seaweed supplement is to avoid those made with Chinese ingredients. Our seaweed supplements come from a family-owned business in Ireland. The Higgins family has carved a niche in the seaweed market by developing a traditional process of harvesting seaweed. Seaweed is hand-cut from below the low tide mark. This ensures that only the best seaweed is harvested and that the crop is preserved for future generations. The harvest is then hung by hand in a specially constructed drying room. The waters around Ireland are some of the purest and cleanest in the world. No additives or fillers are added. Just pure seaweed goodness.
